Building the Foundations of Student Leadership

Great councils aren't built overnight, but a few days in the outdoors can make a big difference! Our RCL programmes focus on the core pillars of effective leadership: communication, responsibility and service. Through carefully designed team challenges, student leaders learn to share a common vision, delegate with purpose and keep their cool when the pressure's on.

Each challenge acts as a real-world reflection of leading at school, offering a safe space to try, stumble, laugh, learn and try again. Councils head home more confident, more connected and ready to lead with purpose and integrity.

Reaching new heights

To lead others, you first need to learn to lead yourself, even when your knees are wobbling! Our height-based challenges are a highlight of the RCL programme, taking student leaders out of their comfort zones and into the air. As they encourage, guide and cheer each other on, they build a powerful sense of trust and personal resilience.

Reaching new heights proves that with a reliable team behind you, no obstacle is too big, a lesson that carries straight back to school and into every council meeting.

Strategic Problem Solving

Strong leadership shows in how a team tackles challenges together, especially when the clock is ticking! Our strategic team challenges get RCL members thinking critically, communicating clearly and making quick decisions under pressure, often with plenty of laughter along the way.

These sessions encourage leaders to look beyond their individual roles and work towards a shared goal, building trust, awareness and real team synergy. By the end of each challenge, councils have a better understanding of one another's strengths and practical problem-solving strategies to take straight back to school.

Action Planning for the School Year

A High Africa leadership camp is not just about the experience on the farm; it’s about the impact made back at school. We dedicate specific sessions to "The Road Ahead," where RCL members use our conferencing facilities and meeting equipment to draft actionable goals and project plans for their term. Facilitated by our experienced team, these workshops ensure that the energy and connection built on the river are channelled into a structured action plan, leaving the council empowered and ready to serve their fellow learners with a clear sense of purpose.
