Where is High Africa, and how do we get there from Cape Town?

High Africa is set on a 12-hectare farm on the banks of the Breede River, about 15 km from Worcester. We're an easy, scenic 90-minute drive from central Cape Town, making us ideal for both day visits and overnight stays.

What types of groups do you host?

We host school camps, youth development camps, RCL leadership camps, university and college camps, corporate team building and private functions. Every programme is tailored to the group's age, goals and schedule.

What accommodation do you offer for large groups?

Our group camps include the High Africa Main Camp, which sleeps 80 students in eight en-suite chalets, and Under the Blue Gums Camp, which sleeps 68 students in safari-style bungalows. For larger school groups, @The River Camp can be added for an extra 60 learners.

Is there separate accommodation for teachers?

Yes. Each camp includes separate teachers' accommodation, so educators have their own comfortable space while staying close to their group.

Do you offer accommodation for families or smaller groups?

Yes. Our River House Collection includes three luxury self-catering lodges on the banks of the Breede River: The River House® (up to 16 guests), The Other House® (up to 18 guests) and @The River (up to 6 adults, plus 4 children).

Do you provide catering, and can you accommodate dietary requirements?

Yes. Our full-time catering team serves hearty, home-style meals, and we cater for a wide range of dietary requirements. Just let us know your group's needs when you book.

Do participants need prior experience or a certain fitness level?

Not at all. Our activities are designed to challenge everyone at their own level, and our facilitators adapt each session so every participant can take part safely and confidently.

Can activities be tailored to our group?

Absolutely. Activities vary depending on your group's age, size, goals and abilities. Contact us for our current list of activities, and we'll create a programme to suit your group.

How safe are your activities?

Safety is our top priority. All activities are led by experienced facilitators who are first-aid qualified and criminal record-checked, equipment is meticulously inspected, and we follow comprehensive emergency response protocols.

Which industry organisations are you registered with?

We're registered with, partner with or use the services of the NSRI, ARCA, APA, SAAIA, Vertical Safety Systems and Priority Care Ambulance, and we're proud to be the only school and youth camp venue in the Western Cape linked to all of them.

Is water safety part of your programmes?

Yes. Our facilitators are trained by the NSRI to deliver its Water Safety Presentation and Survival Swimming Programme, sharing life-saving skills with every school and group that visits us.

Do you host private functions?

Yes. Our riverside farm is a relaxed venue for milestone birthdays, family reunions and special celebrations, with catering and luxury accommodation available for guests.
