At the heart of High Africa is Yolanda Steenkamp, a qualified British and South African teacher with more than 30 years of experience in education, whose passion for outdoor learning continues to shape every programme we offer. Alongside her, Willem Steenkamp brings decades of international and local corporate experience, driving operational excellence, growth strategy and thoughtful programme development.

The next generation, Leriece and Chene, play an active role in the business, contributing to social media, legal compliance, programme innovation and environmental stewardship, ensuring High Africa continues to evolve with purpose and responsibility.

Today, High Africa is the preferred venue for over 120 institutions each year, including schools, universities, corporates, international youth development organisations and philanthropic families. United by a genuine care for young people and their potential, our journey continues to be guided by a belief in the power of adventure to inspire growth, leadership and confidence.

High Africa is a passionate team of adventure gurus who live and breathe outdoor learning.

Our experienced adventure facilitators bring a unique mix of local and international experience, a genuine love for working with young people, and the ability to connect with groups of all ages.

Many of our facilitator are first-aid qualified, criminal record-checked, and most are NSRI Water Safety Officers. Some even hold specialised training across a range of adventure disciplines. Several of our team members also spend time each year working at summer camps in the USA, bringing global best practices, fresh ideas and renewed inspiration back to High Africa.

More than just instructors, our facilitators are mentors, motivators and role models, creating safe, supportive and unforgettable experiences that help people grow, connect and thrive.

Behind every great camp is a dedicated kitchen team! Our friendly and hardworking kitchen staff are an important part of the High Africa experience. They work behind the scenes to prepare fresh, hearty and delicious meals for our guests throughout their stay.

From early-morning breakfasts to filling lunches and satisfying dinners, our team takes pride in making sure that learners, teachers and guests are well fed and ready for the day's activities. High Africa Adventures is a proudly family-run business. How long has High Africa been operating?

We were founded in 2003, and over more than 20 years we've grown into one of South Africa's most respected youth camp destinations. Today, we're the preferred venue for over 120 institutions each year, including schools, universities, corporates and international youth development organisations.

How do you make sure groups are safe?

Every facilitator is first-aid qualified and criminal record-checked, and most are Certified NSRI Water Safety Officers with specialised training across a range of adventure disciplines. We're also active members of SAAIA, ARCA and APA, keeping us aligned with industry safety standards and best practices.
